How to prepare for the day of your interview.

You should bring with you the day of your interview:
  1. A document that identifies you, among these:
    Any passport in your possession,
    Other travel or identification documents, and
    Form I-94, Input / Output Document, if you received it when you entered the United States.
  2. Original birth, marriage, or other documents ( original ) previously presented with your Form I-589, Request for Asylum and Suspension of Removal.

  3. Copy of your Form I-589 and any additional material that you have previously submitted, in case the asylum office has not received any of this information

  4. Any additional document that evidences your claim and that you have not previously submitted together with your request.

  5. An interpreter, if you cannot continue with the interview in English

  6. If spouse and / or children under 21 years of age, if they were included as derivatives in your asylum application at the time of filing it:
    They must bring any identity document, trip or other identity evidence in their possession
    Although you are required to include in your application a list of all your relatives, only those relatives who will be included as their derivatives in the asylum decision should bring to their asylum interview.

  7. A certified translation of any document that is not in English
    Any document in a language other than English must be accompanied by an English translation certified by the translator as complete and correct;
    The translator must certify that he is competent to translate the language used in the document into English.
